Requirements:
1. Each student must have a copy of the lab manual. Lab manual is found at web page cited above.
2. Each student must have approved chemical splash safety goggles, which meet
    ANSI Z87.1-1989 standards.  Do not come to lab without lab goggles.
3. Every student enrolled in this chemistry laboratory must view at least once, the American Chemical
    Society video Starting with Safety: An Introduction for the Academic Chemistry Laboratory.
4. Always bring lab manual, calculator, pencil and paper to lab.
5. Lab jacket or apron is strongly recommended.

Lab Format:
1.  Labs begin at 1:30 p.m. with lecture in a common lecture room.
2.  Dismiss to lab room for lab experiment and write-up.

Grading:
Grading will follow a 10 point grading scale.  The course average will be based on the following:
    60% from lab reports        30% from weekly pre-labs        10% from lab final

In the event of a question regarding an exam grade or final grade, it will be the responsibility of the student to retain
and present graded materials that have been returned for student possession during the quarter.

Lab Breakages:
Lab glassware broken by the student must be paid for by the student.  Glassware prices are available at the following
web site: http://www.chem.LaTech.edu/~deddy/.

Lab Safety:
1.  Each student MUST make 100% on the safety quiz.
2.  Chemical splash safety goggles which meet ANSI Z87.1-1989 standards will be worn at ALL times while the
     experiments are being conducted!
3.  Penalties for violation of the Safety Agreement are as follows:
            1.   First Violation: Warning.
            2.   Second Violation: Dismissal from that lab period with a grade of zero for that lab’s experiment.

Make-Up Policy:
1.  Only one lab will be excused.
2.  An excused absence related to an illness requires a written note from a physician.
3.  An excused absence related to school functions requires a written note from a school official.
4.  Only excused absences can be made up.
5.  Excused absences will be made up during the week the absence occurs, if at all possible.  If this is not possible
     the student must make arrangements with the lab instructor.
6.  The student will receive a grade of zero (0) for each lab missed that is not made-up.
